Description
The PADI Scuba Diver course is part of the PADI Open Water Diver program. If you’re pressed for time but eager to get certified as a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be suitable, especially if you plan to dive mainly with a guide. This course acts as a stepping stone toward obtaining an Open Water Diver certification, if that’s your end goal.
PADI Scuba Divers have the ability to:
- Dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters.
- Progress in dive training by completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification and specific specialty diver courses.
To enroll in a PADI Scuba Diver course (or Junior Scuba Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older, possess adequate swimming skills, and be in good physical health. No prior experience in scuba diving is necessary, but you can test it out through the Discover Scuba Diving program.
The PADI Scuba Diver course involves three main phases:
- Knowledge Development (eLearning, independent study, or in a classroom) to grasp basic principles of scuba diving — covering the initial 3 out of 5 sections of the Open Water Diver course.
- Confined Water Dives to acquire fundamental scuba skills — focusing on the initial 3 out of 5 dives from the Open Water Diver course.
- Open Water Dives to apply your skills and explore — completing just 2 out of the 4 dives required for the Open Water Diver course.
The course involves an eLearning component and practical training, both of which are included in course fees. Gear rental and snacks and drinks are also included. All participants are required to complete a medical fitness form prior to course commencement. Course is valid for one year from purchase.
